THE CONTRAST OF LENT AND CARNIVAL

    The contrast belongs to a kind of popular literature very diffused in the Medieval Europe. A moralizer character, he was expressing in that epoch the deep disagreement the Catholicism had provoked between the spirit and the meat. In the Renaissance this kind of transformation was made. The admonitions to the observance of the Lent, or rather of the fast, and the abstention of the carnival, or rather of the cheerful life, they were abandoned and the contrast assumed the function to take of aim and cover of ridiculous the Lent and excite the liking of the audience in favor of the cheerful opponent of it, carnival.

   

    The theatrical Hybris association has reelaborated it completely in key post-technological mole-primitivista.
